Ishaira Garcia

Ishaira Garcia is a proud native New Yorker born and raised in Bronx County.  Her parents both hail from Guayama, Puerto Rico, where they instilled her Puerto Rican culture with orgullo (pride), fuerza (strength) y amor (love).  Ishaira received her B.S. and A.S. from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Ishaira began her career with the Unified Court System as a Court Officer in Supreme Court-Criminal Term Bronx County in February of 2016. She took great care to maintain safety and security for court staff, litigants, and members of the public. Ishaira proudly serves as the Financial Secretary of the Latino Court Officer’s Society, where she was appointed in 2017 and has been an active member since its inception. It is amazing all the work the Latino Court Officers Society has done for the community at large and the support we give each other as brothers and sisters of the Unified Court System. Ishaira is a 2022 New York City Marathoner and hopes to create an LCOS running team to promote health and continue the camaraderie within LCOS.

As the proud recipient of the 12th Judicial District’s Gender Fairness Woman of Distinction Award in 2019, Ishaira is committed to ensuring equity and the proper administration of court functions in New York State Courts for all members of the Unified Court System. In 2020, Ishaira became a member of the 12th Judicial District’s Gender Fairness Committee to pay it forward.

Ishaira Garcia now works as a Senior Court Clerk in Supreme Court Bronx County, Criminal Term. Ishaira runs a high-volume Supreme Criminal Court part. She has trained, supervised, and guided newly appointed Senior Court Clerks on the policies and procedures required to ensure the responsible and expeditious execution of critical court functions.

Serving on the Latino Court Officer’s Society board for more than 5 years has been a steady reminder of how important public service is to Ishaira. From flying to Puerto Rico after one of the biggest hurricane devastations in the Caribbean to provide joy to children during their holiday to participating in countless fundraisers and drives, being a part of LCOS has reinforced her belief that a small group of deeply committed people can accomplish so much together. Ishaira’s pride in being a part of LCOS is profound, and her commitment to helping LCOS reach even more deserving people is palpable. Ishaira is excited to share her innovative ideas and is looking forward to serving the LCOS indefinitely!
